Description
Digital Audio Isolator for MADI and AES3
Digital Audio Isolators (isolation transformers) are critical components for implementing ground isolation, protection and noise reduction. The Digital Audio Isolator is usable as an isolation transformer for MADI and AES3 digital audio standards..
Highlights:
- Eliminate noise and hum from digital audio signals
- Protect Equipment from ground voltages
- Standard isolation better than 1kV
- Supports all MADI and AES3 formats
- Passive device
- High performance and wide bandwidth design
- Ultra-compact and lightweight
- Standalone unit and rack mountable versions
Description:
The DAIT range of Digital Audio Isolation transformers provide a transformer based solution for the reduction and elimination of hum and noise caused by differences in ground potential, especially those above 20 volts, or induced currents in long cable runs. As a result, these ground problems manifest themselves as signal noise on the digital video transmission.
Hence, the resultant common mode noise causes degradation of the bit timing of the high speed digital signal leading to bit errors. a consequence of the bit errors is a  reduction of the quality of the audio and data content within the transmission signal. Since digital signals often do not degrade gracefully, they often suffer from a cliff-effect causing the signal to be lost altogether.
However, the singular most common symptoms of hum in digital audio signals is intermittent clicks and pops.
Installing a Digital Audio Isolation Transformer is crucial in implementing ground protection. This occurs when ground or earth potential differences are in existence between equipment. As a result, permanent damage to video equipment is often the consequence. Crucially, damage of this nature is not only costly but could also take a video signal off-air.
The Digital Audio Isolation Transformer is usable for MADI and AES3 audio signals.
The Digital Audio Isolation Transformer is available in three compact packages, in standalone unit and rack mounting configurations. The rack mounting versions have a standard XLR mounting profile allowing it to be mounted on to a XLR rack mounting plate.
